Two 16-year-old male juveniles from LaPlace were arrested Wednesday, March 23, 2022 for burglarizing motor vehicles in a LaPlace subdivision.
On Wednesday, March 23, 2022, about 1 a.m., deputies responded to the area of Bayonne and Glendale drives in Belle Terre subdivision in reference to two unknown males carrying backpacks and pulling on vehicle door handles.
Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area and observed two unknown males carrying backpacks walking on Madewood Road. Deputies made contact with the two males and detained them. Officers received permission to search both subjects and also to search the backpacks in their possession. Officers discovered a grinder containing marijuana residue on one subject’s person. In the backpack, officers discovered a black hooded jacket, a flash light, a woman’s wallet stolen from a vehicle on Glendale Drive. Searching the second subject, officers discovered a plastic bag of marijuana in a pant pocket. In the backpack, officers found Apple I-pods earphones, a black hooded jacket, and other miscellaneous items.
In the area of Glendale and Bayonne drives, officers also discovered three vehicles with open passenger doors, and the vehicles appeared to be rummaged through.
One juvenile was charged with possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia 1st offense (misd); juvenile curfew violation, and three counts of simple burglary – motor vehicle.
The second juvenile was charged with possession of marijuana 1st offense (C2A) (misd), juvenile curfew violation; and three counts of simple burglary – motor vehicle.
Both were released to their parents and placed on house arrest.
