St. John Parish Sheriff’s Deputies Brandon Nielsen and Jeremy Triche were among the officers honored October 7, 2021 during the 2021 Gulf Coast Brotherhood Ride, which is held annually to recognize first responders who died in the line of duty. Deputies Nielsen and Triche were shot and killed by members of a domestic terrorist group on August 16, 2012 in LaPlace.
The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office bike patrol and other law enforcement officers from the New Orleans area joined first responders who have been riding across Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana to promote awareness of those officers who paid the ultimate price and to show that these heroes will never be forgotten. Riders made a stop October 7, 2021 for a brief ceremony at the St. John Sheriff’s Office in LaPlace.
The ride, which raises money to support officers’ families or foundations, began October 3, 2021 in Orange Beach, Alabama and ended October 8, 2021 in Alexandria.
