After careful consideration, Sheriff Mike Tregre has announced the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office will not participate in parties for National Night Out Against Crime due to COVID-19. The event had been scheduled for October 6, 2020. While we are disappointed, we feel this decision is the right one for the health and wellness of our community. We do, however, encourage residents and businesses to Turn St. John Parish Blue to show support not only for St. John officers, but for law enforcement agencies across America. Residents are invited to change their porch lights to a blue bulb, symbolizing support of law enforcement as well as taking a stand against crime in our parish. National Night Out has always promoted unity among law enforcement and neighborhoods and getting to know others in your community to assist in crime prevention. For neighborhoods that may want to host a small event for those purposes, please do so within the guidelines set by Governor Edwards, adhering to all preventive measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.
