Detectives with the St. John Sheriff’s Office are investigating two shooting incidents that occurred July 11-12, 2020 in a LaPlace neighborhood.
Detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating Brandon Fleming of LaPlace. He is a suspect in a shooting that occurred Saturday, July 11, 2020. About 10:30 p.m., deputies responded to the 1300 block of North Sugar Ridge subdivision in LaPlace in reference to gunshots heard in the area. Upon arrival, deputies learned that three males on foot fired several shots at a large crowd of people standing outside a residence then fled the scene towards Cinclair Loop. No one was injured. Four vehicles were struck by gunfire.
On Sunday, July 12, 2020, about 1:30 p.m., deputies responded to the 2000 block of South Sugar Ridge in LaPlace in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies learned that a verbal confrontation occurred between an unknown male, a female, and the female’s 16-year-old son. Shortly after the verbal confrontation, gunshots were exchanged between the unknown male and the 16-year-old juvenile. A nearby vehicle and a house were struck by gunfire. No one was injured during the incident.
The juvenile was arrested and charged for illegal discharge of weapons and/or dangerous instrumentalities. The unknown male fled the scene on foot before deputies’ arrival.
At this time, it is unclear if the shootings on July 11 and 12 are connected.
