Several officers with the St. John Sheriff’s Office participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Louisiana May 29, 2020 in LaPlace and Reserve.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the public, unfortunately, was unable to join the officers this year. Cpl. Darlene Cooper, who organized the event, said she was pleased that a group of officers came together to participate in the event this year to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Louisiana.
After the run and bike ride, the officers enjoyed a social at Bec’s on the Lake. The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office appreciates the support of local donors: Raising Canes, Louisiana Federal Credit Union, Justice of the Peace Greg Maurin and Richard Punch; and thanks to Bec’s for hosting the social.
