Detectives are investigating a home invasion that occurred January 1, 2020 about 9:40 p.m. in the 1800 block of Southdown Road in LaPlace. Upon arrival, officers learned a subject wearing a mask entered a residence, held a woman and man at gunpoint and demanded money. The woman had heard a knock at the side door of the home and assumed it was a relative. When she opened the door, the suspect immediately entered the residence and pointed a gun at the woman as well as a man inside the home and demanded money.
When the couple told the suspect they had no money, the suspect fled the residence on foot in an unknown direction. Also in the residence during the incident were a toddler, a juvenile under the age of 12, and another adult female who locked themselves in a bathroom.
No one was injured during the incident.
The victims described the suspect as male, tall, medium build, wearing a black mask, gloves and clothes.
