Angel Garces

Angel Duwayne Garces, 21, of LaPlace was arrested Monday, June 4, 2018 for several illegal drug and weapons violations. Garces was booked with four counts of illegal carrying of weapon with controlled dangerous substance, possession of hydrocodone (felony), possession of methamphetamine less than 28 grams (felony), possession with intent to distribute MDMA (felony) and possession of marijuana 1st offense (misd).

On Monday, June 4, 2018, about 6 p.m., deputies responded to the area of Fir and Elm streets in LaPlace in reference to a call of shots fired. Upon arrival, deputies learned shots were coming from behind the levee on the south side in the area of West Second Street near Acorn Street. Upon driving over the levee, officers discovered a white male, later identified as Garces, was shooting guns. Garces allowed deputies to retrieve his identification card from a backback. Upon opening the backpack, officers found a small clear plastic bag containing marijuana, a clear plastic bag containing six whole and two half pills of MDMA, a clear plastic bag containing 10 whole and five half pills of MDMA, a clear plastic bag containing three whole and one half pills of Hydrocodone, a clear plastic bag containing about 1 gram of methamphetamines, several loose, live rounds of miscellaneous ammunition, two SD cards, and an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers also recovered several firearms including a Bersa Thunder pistol, a Springfield XD pistol, a Ruger pistol and a Beretta ARX .22 rifle.

Garces is being held in custody in lieu of a $166,500 bond.
