Rondel Brown

Rondel Brown, 37, of LaPlace, was arrested October 31, 2017, in connection to a domestic violence incident.

On Monday, October 30, 2017, at about 9:15 p.m., deputies responded to the 2200 block of Cartier Drive in LaPlace in reference to a disturbance with weapons. Upon arrival, the 36-year-old victim reported to officers that she and her boyfriend, identified as Rondel Brown, had a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation at her residence. As Brown was choking her in the presence of her two children, ages 10 and 13, the victim told officers she was able to get away from his grasp. As she and her children were attempting to escape the residence, Brown picked up a handgun on a table in the living room, pointed it at her, and fired the gun in another direction at a glass door, shattering the glass, inside the residence. As the victim and the children were exiting the residence and entering a vehicle to leave the area, Brown fired the gun several times in the front yard in an unknown direction. Brown then fled the scene in a car. About 11 p.m., Brown returned to the victim’s residence where he was arrested.

Brown was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm (felony), domestic abuse battery with child endangerment (misd), aggravated criminal damage to property (felony) and possession of a firearm/carrying a concealed weapon by convicted felon (felony). Brown’s previous conviction was an armed robbery charge in 2001.

He is being held in custody in lieu of a $90,000 bond.
