Sheriff Mike Tregre is proud to announce that the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility has again passed an audit and inspection conducted by the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. The unannounced audit/inspection commenced in May 2017 and certified the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility’s continued compliance with basic jail guidelines and standards.

Among the standards reviewed are management, personnel training, records, inmate safety, medical and health care, education, food, work programs, and facility site. The St. John jail received several excellent ratings for exceeding jail standards. Audits are held annually, and audits with inspection are held every three years for continued certification.

Major Jimmy Oubre is warden. Captain Gordon Jeffcoat is associate warden; and Lt. Anthony Giovingo is assistant warden. Lt. Jose Rel is commander of training and programs. Sgt. Sharon Sealy is booking shift supervisor.
