Dwayne Anthony Brown

Dwayne Anthony Brown, 31, of LaPlace, was arrested Tuesday, August 22, 2017 for drug possession and several other charges after attempting to evade a traffic stop on Monday, August 21, 2017. On August 21, 2017 about 6:45 p.m., deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling northbound on Homewood Drive in Reserve but the driver, later identified as Dwayne Anthony Brown, refused to stop. At one point, deputies observed Brown toss a gun and small packages, which was later determined to contain marijuana and methamphetamine, from the vehicle. Brown continued traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on U.S. 61 to Central Avenue where he crashed into a telephone pole at Central and Railroad avenues.

Brown was booked with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute MDMA (felony), possession of MDMA (felony), possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia 1st offense (misd), possession of Zanax (Alprazolam) (felony), safety belt use, tags indicating exemption, aggravated flight from an officer (felony), simple criminal damage to property – $500-$50,000 (felony), simple criminal damage to property – Under $500 (misd), hit and run driving (misd), two counts of obstruction of justice – tampering with evidence (felony), unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling (felony), resisting an officer (misd), possession of marijuana 1st offense (misd), possession of Percocet (felony), possession of oxycodone, and unattended motor vehicles. He is being held in custody in lieu of a $108,000 bond. Brown has been arrested more than 10 times in St. John Parish since 2003.
