Marquavious Williams

Marquavious Williams, 18, of Kenner, was arrested Friday, June 16, 2017 in connection with a shooting in the 1800 block of Lee Drive in LaPlace. On Thursday, June 15, 2017, about 11:15 p.m., patrol deputies responded to call of a subject in a black sedan shooting a gun in the area of Lee Drive in LaPlace. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the driver of the sedan, identified as Marquavious Williams, near the old Airline Athletic Center on Richmond Drive. A search warrant was obtained, and a gun was located on the front seat of the vehicle. Deputies also located a shotgun lying on the ground under an 18-wheeler parked in the Airline Athletic Center lot. Upon further investigation, officers learned Williams was completing an online sale of a paintball gun to an unknown subject. After the transaction, Williams left the area and then realized he was paid with counterfeit money. He then returned to the location of the sale and had a brief argument with the buyer. Williams then opened the trunk of his vehicle and was retrieving a shotgun when the gun went off. No injuries were reported. Williams was booked with illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities. He was released June 18, 2017 on a $4,800 bond.
