Damien Gomez, 25, of Reserve was arrested Thursday, May 4, 2017, in connection to a theft investigation. On January 12, 2017, a St. John officer met with a 21-year-old female victim of a theft of her debit card after she lost her wallet at a convenience store in Reserve on January 10, 2017. Later the same day, records of the card’s use showed that an attempt was made to make a purchase for $448.75 with the card at Hibbett Sports on West Airline Highway in LaPlace.
Based on investigation and tips from the community, officers identified the suspect as Damien Gomez and a judicial warrant for his arrest was obtained. Gomez was arrested May 4, 2017 and booked with attempted unauthorized use of access card and theft by fraud – less than $750. He is being held in custody in lieu of a $3,000 bond.
