Kim Shepherd

Kim Shepherd, 27, of Edgard was arrested Monday, April 17, 2017 in connection to a carjacking and faces several other charges stemming from an incident that occurred April 13, 2017 in the 700 block of La. 3127 in Edgard. Deputies were attempting to arrest Shepherd for outstanding warrants when he struck an officer in the chest with his hands then fled on foot eastbound toward Hwy. 640 then returned to the 700 block of La. 3127 where he entered a parked vehicle occupied by a woman. As Shepherd attempted to put the car in drive, the woman exited the vehicle. Shepherd then fled in the vehicle, traveling at a speed over 100 mph, and disregarding traffic signs. He then crashed into a field on Hwy. 18 and fled in an unknown direction on foot. Officers canvassed the area, but were unable to locate Shepherd.

A judicial warrant was obtained Friday, April 14, 2017 for Shepherd’s arrest on several charges including contempt of court, violation of probation/parole, stop signs and yield signs, hit and run driving, reckless operation of a vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer, two counts of resisting an officer, battery of a police officer and carjacking. On Monday, Shepherd turned himself in to officers in Edgard without incident. He is being held in custody in lieu of a $29,600 bond.
