On Tuesday, November 29, 2016, the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office school resource officer at LaPlace Elementary received a complaint in reference to trespassing at the school in the morning hours of Sunday, November 27. During an investigation, the officer and school officials discovered that papers were torn from a wall and a fire extinguisher had been discharged. With recorded video surveillance recovered from a school camera, the officer and school officials identified the juveniles involved in the incident. A male juvenile, 13, of LaPlace was arrested November 29 for criminal trespass-immovable structure and criminal mischief-tampering with property. A female juvenile, 16, of LaPlace, also was arrested for criminal trespass-immovable structure and criminal mischief-tampering with property. The juveniles were released November 29 to the custody of their parents.
