The St. John Sheriff’s Office welcomes residents to pay their respects and show their support for St. John Fire Chief Spencer Chauvin as his funeral procession travels from the St. John Civic Center in LaPlace to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard on Thursday, September 1.
Memorial service and visitation will take place from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm at the St. John Parish Community Center, 2900 Hwy 51 in Laplace
Following Chief Chauvin’s visitation at the Civic Center, the procession will begin about 1 p.m. The procession will leave the St. John Community Center, 2900 U.S. 51 in LaPlace, head south on U.S. 51, turn right onto U.S. 61 head west through Reserve and Garyville, turn left onto LA 3213 southbound travel over the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Gramercy, exit LA 18 and travel eastbound, ending at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2361 LA 18 in Edgard. A Mass will be celebrated about 2:30 p.m. The burial will follow Mass.
Residents may line roads, Lt. Troy Cassioppi said. “They can pull on the side of roads and get out of their cars as the procession passes,†he said. “However, safety is priority.â€
During the motorcade, Louisiana 44 is the alternate route for travelers.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. John Civic Center.
