On Tuesday, June 14, 2016, St. John deputies arrested Wayne Jackson Johnson, 35, of Garyville in the 300 of South Fig Street in Garyville. Detectives wanted Johnson in connection with an armed robbery in the early morning of June 08, 2016 on Little Hope Street in Garyville.

During the investigation, the 53-year-old male victim told detectives he had stopped about 1 a.m. at a business in the 5000 block of West Airline Highway in Garyville. He began talking with a female he was acquainted with and another male who he did not know in the parking lot, and they decided to go to a house on Little Hope Street. The victim drove, and the male accompanied him. The female followed in another vehicle for awhile, and then she turned onto another street. After she turned off, the male told the victim to stop at a house on Little Hope Street where a party may be going on. When the victim and the male exited the vehicle, the male walked behind the victim and put a gun to his head and took $40 to $50 from the victim’s wallet and his IPhone 6 Plus. The male then knocked the victim to the ground. The perpetrator fled, and the victim drove home. During the investigation, detectives obtained a description of the perpetrator and acquired a judicial court ordered arrest warrant. Johnson was arrested without incident for felony armed robbery with a firearm. He is being held in custody in lieu of a $40,000 bond. He has been arrested more than 50 times since 1998. The investigation is ongoing.
