On Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at 7:08 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Ochsner Kenner Hospital for the report that a 17-year-old Laplace teenager walked in the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his hand. He told hospital personnel that he was shot in LaPlace.

The victim told deputies that he was walking in the area of West Second Street and Satsuma Street in LaPlace when he passed a group of male subjects. The subjects in the group called out to him, but he ignored them. He felt his backpack being pulled from his shoulders, and when he turned to defend himself, one of the subjects produced a gun and shot the victim in the left hand. The victim fled the scene on foot and contacted his mother who brought him to Ochsner Kenner Hospital.

The victim reported the backpack that held a gaming system, two video games, and cash stolen.
