In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, asNational Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
In honor of National Police Week, Sheriff Mike Tregre, St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a Candlelight Vigil remembering our Fallen Brothers in Blue. The vigil will be held on the front lawn of the Percy Hebert Building (1801 W Airline Hwy, LaPlace) Wednesday, May 13th, 2015 beginning at 7:00p.m.
