On Thursday morning, November 6, 2014, the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force arrested Joel Martin, 27, of LaPlace on an outstanding St. John the Baptist Parish judicial court ordered arrest warrant. The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office wanted Martin in connection with a home invasion that occurred on September 6 at a residence in the 100 block of Joe Parquet Circle in LaPlace. The 26-year-old female victim told investigators that Martin was in her residence and physically battered her when she returned home. She also told investigators that on September 8, Martin threatened that he would kill her. Detectives sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Martin on September 8.
Joel Martin was booked with home invasion; simple assault; telephone communications: improper language/harassment; and violation of probation/parole. Martin remains in custody in lieu of a $65,000 bond and probation/parole hold. Martin was arrested fifteen times in St. John the Baptist Parish since May 2004.
