On Friday, August 8, 2014, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Walmart in LaPlace for the report of a shoplifting incident that occurred the night before. A Walmart Loss Prevention employee reported that the incident was recorded on video surveillance.
Detectives reviewed the video and saw a man put three televisions in a shopping basket then exit the store. Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Therill Dennis, 22, from Reserve. A judicial court ordered arrest warrant was obtained for Dennis for theft of goods valued at $500 – $1500.
Detectives arrested Therill Dennis at the Criminal Investigations Division Tuesday afternoon. He was booked with theft by shoplifting $500-$1500 and violation of probation/parole. He remains in custody on a $2500 bond and probation/parole hold.
