After obtaining  a judicial court ordered arrest warrant on August 1 for Alonzo Wilkens for the murder of Kentrell Bailey, the numerous attempts of St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives to find Wilkens were unsuccessful. Detectives believe some of the Wilkens family members hindered their efforts to locate him. Detectives attempted to locate Wilkens through talking to his mother, Andrea Wilkens, several aunts, and cousins.

Thursday morning, detectives and members of the US Marshalls Fugitive Task Force spoke to Kyron Wilkens, Alonzo’s cousin. Kyron told authorities that he did not know the whereabouts of Alonzo, and he had not seen him or talked to him. Kyron then told detectives that he was with Alonzo two days earlier. Detectives arrested and booked Kyron Wilkens with obstruction of justice. Detectives arrested and booked Kyron with obstruction of justice on July 31 when he lied to detectives during the homicide investigation. He remains in custody in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

Friday morning, detectives arrested and booked Andrea Wilkens, Alonzo’s mother, with obstruction of justice. During the search for Alonzo, the investigation revealed to detectives that Andrea Wilkens was actively communicating with Alonzo.

Detectives obtained a judicial court ordered arrest warrant for Andrea. She remains in custody in lieu of a $5,000 bond.

Detectives suspect additional arrests for obstruction of justice are forthcoming  pending the outcome of the investigation.
