On Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 8:21 am, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1900 block of Jasper Lane in LaPlace for the report of a subject that was shot. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found an unresponsive man. He sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identification of the victim is being withheld until notification of the victim’s family is made. No one else was injured.
The scene is active, and investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person or persons responsible and to determine a motive for this murder.
