On Wednesday, June 11, 2014, six teams consisting of two St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff‘s Office deputies canvassed the parish from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm conducting compliance checks on 56 registered sex offenders. Deputies verified all the information that the sex offender provided during his or her registration. The offender information required by law consists of identification card, residence address, vehicle information, employment information, and telephone numbers. All compliance information and any updated information is shared with the Louisiana State Police.
Deputies found one sex offender that was noncompliant. The offender no longer lived at the address that the offender provided in the registration. Deputies will seek an arrest warrant for the offender’s arrest.
If a sex offender was not home, deputies left a card at the home requesting the offender to contact the Sheriff‘s Office Sex Offender Registration no later than Friday, June 13, to verify the information provided to the office.
