On Friday, October 18, 2013, at 1:19 am, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to 4300 US Highway 51 in LaPlace, the Circle-K-Store, for the report of an armed robbery. The clerk told investigators that the perpetrator approached the counter and lifted his shirt displaying what was believed to be a handgun. He told the clerk that he did not want to kill her or hurt her, but he just wanted her to empty out the cash register. He left the store with a sum of cash and drove away.
When the store clerk called 911 dispatchers, the clerk gave a description of the perpetrator, his clothing, the vehicle that he was driving, and the direction that he drove. Just minutes after the call, a responding deputy saw a vehicle matching the description of the perpetrator‘s vehicle and its driver matching the description of the perpetrator. The vehicle was stopped, and after positively identifying the driver as the perpetrator, he was arrested. He was identified as Corey Dunn, 24, of Lemoyne Drive in LaPlace. Dunn was booked with first-degree robbery. His bond was set at $25,000.00.
