On Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 3:02 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 2600 block of Cambridge Drive in LaPlace for the report of a car burglary. The victim’s husband called her telling her that he found her wallet in the roadway near where her vehicle was parked. After checking her vehicle, the victim called authorities to report that her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle.
The victim met her husband where he had found the wallet. A citizen told them that a boy dropped the wallet from a purse. While they were still at the location, the boy returned to the area. The deputy detained the boy while the investigation continued. The purse was located, and all its contents returned to the victim.
The perpetrator was identified as a 16 year old juvenile who was arrested and charged with simple burglary. He was released to the custody of a parent.
