On Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 10:22 am, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 2300 block of Hebert Drive in LaPlace for a reported armed robbery. The victim, a 69 year old female, told investigators that she sells sweets and snacks from her residence. She answered at knock at the door and allowed two black male subjects in her home for snacks. Suddenly, the two subjects pulled out guns and pointed the guns her and her grandson. The perpetrators stole her cash box and fled in the field behind the residence. No one was injured during the incident.

Deputies canvassed the area looking for the perpetrators. Deputies located two black men matching the description of the assailants. As deputies attempted to stop the men, they fled, and deputies saw one of the men throw an object as he ran. Both men were apprehended, and deputies recovered 2 handguns and the stolen cash box.

Detectives arrested David Sheppard, 19, of East 13th Street in Reserve and booked him with armed robbery and armed robbery with a firearm. His bond is $500,000.00. Detectives also arrested Anthony Sheppard, 20, of East 13th Street and booked him with armed robbery, armed robbery with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bond is $525,000.00.

During the investigation, detectives received information that a female from the neighborhood may have had knowledge of the robbery. Based on the investigation, detectives arrested Brittany Schmidt, 20, of Hebert Drive. She was booked with obstruction of justice. Her bond is $10,000.00
