St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating two murders — one from Friday night and the other from Sunday night. No arrests have been made in either case.

Sheriff’s deputies responded Sunday to a report of two persons shot in the 1600 block of Jefferson Street in LaPlace. There, they found an 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the leg and a 25-year-old male with a gunshot wound who was unresponsive.

The male with the wound to his leg was transported to a New Orleans area hospital for treatment.

The 25-year-old, identified as Cornell Tuco, of Yorktowne Drive, LaPlace, was brought to River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace, where he died, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Sheriff’s Office did not say if there was a suspect or suspects in this shooting.

Sunday’s homicide follows a Friday night shooting that left a 22-year-old dead in LaPlace.

Deputies responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Carmichael Court and found Travalen Narcisse, of Carmichael Court, LaPlace, lying in the front seat of a car, where he died of gunshot wounds.

As in the Sunday night shooting, authorities did not say if there is a suspect or suspects.

In both crimes, authorities have asked for help from the public. Anyone with information on either case is urged to call the St. John Sheriff’s Office at 985-359-TIPS (8477) of Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
