St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested two juveniles and a 17-year old who are accused of robbing a LaPlace bicyclist early Thursday morning.

According to a Sheriff’s Office report, Deputy Anthony Cox and Deputy Sidney Triche were on routine patrol in LaPlace Thursday at about 1:30 a.m. when they spotted a vehicle on Elm Street traveling at a slow speed and with the front and rear passenger doors open. The deputies stopped the driver, who said he and and friends were searching for other friends.

Other deputies responding to the call were approached by a 45-year-old LaPlace man on a bicycle, who told deputies that he had just been robbed at gunpoint. The man told deputies he handed over his wallet, but when the robbers found nothing of value in it, they dropped it and fled.

A short time later, deputies saw and detained two males who matched the description of the robbers given by the victim. Deputies arrested Deion Davis, 17, of 44575 Cypress St., Sorrento, and booked him with armed robbery and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. He remained in the parish jail with bond set at $62,000.

Two 16-year-old juveniles, both from Gonzales, were booked with principal to armed robbery. They were transferred to the St. James Juvenile Detention Center.
