Sgt. Troy Cassioppi of the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy on Friday June 8th 2012. The FBI National Academy is designed to provide advanced training to law enforcement executives both from the United States and foreign law enforcement agencies. Two hundred sixty-four law enforcement officers from 48 states, and 24 international countries four military organizations, and five federal civilian organizations graduated from the 249th Session of the National Academy.
The National Academy Program, located at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, offers ten (10) weeks of advanced investigative, management and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals with their agencies. On average, these officers have 19 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to service in executive-level positions.
Sgt. Cassioppi is extremely grateful and thanks former Sheriff Wayne L. Jones for affording him the opportunity to attend the National Academy, and to current Sheriff Mike Tregre for affording him the chance to continue using these newly learned skills. Sgt. Cassioppi believes that staying current with the newest developments in crime fighting and investigation is extremely important for public safety effectiveness in St. John Parish.
Sgt. Cassioppi has been employed with the St. John Sheriff Office for 22 years, as a patrol officer, Traffic Division Commander, and is currently assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division.
